Injured demonstrater, 1972, Bloody Sunday Trust
In 1972, fourteen people were killed at the Bloody Sunday massacre led by Irish Catholics, motivated by religious discrimination from Irish Protestants in their local community. Debate over equal treatment caused the protest which then led to an attempt at diplomacy between the British government, Irish government, and the Irish Republican Army. When diplomacy failed it resulted in severe consequences for one side's actions, but also success when they received what they wanted.
